(Istituto per l’Energetica e le Interfasi, IENI - CNR)

Valentina Zin was born in 1982 in Padova.

On 26th October 2006 she graduated in Materials Engineering at University of Padova with a thesis entitled “Snthesis and characterization of FeCo nanopowders”. She started her research activity at University of Padova as Ph.D student in the european project SELECTNANO of the EU’s Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development about “Development of multifunctional nanometallic particles using a new process – Sonoelectrochemistry”.

In 2010 she completed her Ph.D studies in Metallurgy at University of Padova with a thesis entitled “Metal nanoparticles produced by pulsed sonoelectrochemical technique: process optimization and characterization of products”.

In 2010 she was granted a fellowship regarding “Microstructural investigation with transmission electron microscopy of martensitic transformation in cold rolled duplex stainless steel” at the Department of Chemical Processes for Engineering, University of Padova.

Since 2012 she is at the Institute for Energetics and Interphases (IENI) of the National Research Council (CNR) in Padova, with a fellowship concerning “Development and application of chemical and microstructural analysis techniques for powders and coatings made of metal alloys and composites”. Her primary activity pertained to development of technologies for preparation of nanofluids and nanolubricants in the field of a project about new materials and technologies for a prototype internal combustion cogenerator.

Today she still works on nanofluids for lubrications, magnetic nanofluids and thin film produced by HiPIMS PVD technique. Her main activities concern tribological tests on lubricants and other fluids, wear tests on thin films, scratch tests, tribo-corrosion, XRD characterization, synthesis and characterization of magnetic nanoparticles.
