Subinoy Rana received his MS degree in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. In 2013, he received his PhD from the Department of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA for his work on functionalized metal nanoparticles for biosensing applications. He is currently a research associate in the Department of Materials at the Imperial College London, where he is developing pint-of-care biodiagnostic tools using plasmonic nanomaterials. He was awarded the Marie Curie International Fellowship in 2014 to develop effective nanocapsules for rapid chemotherapeutic drug screening. In addition to the metal nanomaterials-based works, he has been exploring polymeric hydrogel and photonic crystals in biosensing applications. Subinoy has co-authored 33 publications in peer-reviewed journals, with more than 1180 citations.
