(Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Center for Space Human Robotics - CSHR@Polito)

Marzia Quaglio is Researcher at the Center for Space Human Robotics@POLITO of the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) in Turin, Italy.

She graduated in Material Science and Engineering in 2004 at the Politecnico di Torino and received her Ph.D. in Electronic Devices from the same institute in 2008. Her research activity started with a main focus on MEMS and NEMS for application in life science, with particular interest to polymer processing for the development of all-polymeric Lab On a Chips for genomic analysis and the design of nano-optics for biological detection. In 2007, as a PhD student she collaborated with the University of Wisconsin at Madison as a Fellow. In 2008 she had a post-doc position at the Politecnico di Torino. In 2009 she joined IIT, contributing to the start-up of the Center for Space Human Robotics. Her research activity moved to the design and development of materials and technologies for portable systems for energy harvesting and storage.

She is currently involved in the Bio-Inspired Energy research line, with particular interest on bio-electrochemical systems (BES) for the valorization of environmental and waste waters through energy and chemicals production.
