Valentina MUSSI
(ISC-CNR)

Dr. Valentina Mussi has expertise in the areas of applied optics and quantum optics, physics of surfaces and nanotechnology applied to biomedicine. She graduated on Quantum Optics at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" and received her Ph.D. in physics in 2003 at the University Roma Tre, on optical properties of color centers produced by ion irradiation in alkali halides. In recent years, she has directed the research focused on the development of nanopore biosensors and nanostructured devices for drug delivery applications at the Nanomed Labs of the Physics Department of the University of Genova. In July 2011, she gained a position of assistant professor at the Physics Department of the University of Genova, carrying out teaching assignments at the Faculty of Humanities (Physics for Cultural Heritage) and Medicine.

Since November 2012, she is research scientist at the Institute of Complex Systems of the National Research Council (ISC-CNR, Area of Rome Tor Vergata), where she works on spectral imaging for bioanalytical and diagnostic applications. She is author of several papers published on international Journals (http://publicationslist.org/vale_nena) and of two patents related to the construction of nanopore biosensors for applications in nanomedicine. In October 2010, she contributed to found the spin-off of the University of Genova "Nanomed Srl". Presently, she coordinates the Tech4Bio inter-institute group at CNR (www.tech4bio.eu) and is responsible of the Organizational Support Unit of the Institute for Complex Systems in the Tor Vergata Area of Rome (UOS RM2).
